General Speaking Competitions RYC
Two annual speech competitions - Stockley Cup and Dunsheath Plate are coming up.

Stockley: open to all Senior students (11 to 13), speeches 6 to 8 minutes long. Thursday 8 August, 6pm at Rutherford House at Victoria University's Pipitea Campus.

Dunsheath: open to all Junior students (years 9 and 10), speeches 4 to 6 minutes. Tuesday 6 August, 6pm at Rutherford House at Victoria University's Pipitea Campus.

Both are oratory competitions in which students will be asked to make a speech about any topic of their choice. Speeches should be prepared and will be judged on oratory skill, but students may use cue cards or notes and time themselves with a phone or stopwatch..

Each school may enter one student into Stockley Cup and two students into Dunsheath Plate.

Entries are needed by Friday 2 August, and need to include the name of the student, their year level, and the title of the speech. Because these are open entries, please share this info with anyone who is interested. Any questions, please email me at leogrka@whs.school.nz.
